The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill and The Mander Pipe Organ

The purpose of The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill is to be faithful to Jesus Christ so that the members of his church provide both a spiritual and a material ministry to each other and to the world.

The progress of our new Mander pipe organ is continuing at a steady pace. The case framework and soundboards are built, and the pipes are beginning to be made. The instrument is to consist of three manuals (keyboards) and pedal, for a total of 47 stops - for a total of 3,550....all of which are to be made by hand! The pipes will range in size from approximately five inches to 16 feet, and will be either wood or metal - square, round, cone-shaped, flared, narrow, wide, curved, straight, mounted vertically and horizontally.

The pipework, framework and soundboards are actually only a small part of the overall work. The internal parts of the instrument include many, many intricate parts, all of which need to be made by hand.

Funding for this project made possible by Advent, with whose help our congregation has raised $1.2 million and is now going for our second $1.2 million.
