Here are some comments on particular queries:
In regard to publishers selling their books at the Book Fair, Ralf (our host) thinks that
at the moment the best way is to give out an exchange rate for
the book fair and afterward every trader gets US$ for Marks from me.
Euro checks should be no problem, but most people in Germany (I think)
pay cash.
Also, the Euro is not a currency for cash.
$1 US currently = 1.14 Euro dollars.
There is no import duty!
Visa, good question! I'll check this!
We have UPS in Koblenz.
The best way to get from the Frankfurt airport to Koblenz is by train. It takes about an hour and 20 minutes and costs about $40 US, and
can be paid with credit Card. But every one needs about 20 DEM for the
taxi to the hotel.
LETTER FROM KOBLENZ 1999
by Ralf Quast
This is number three of six articles leading to Conclave XVII,
which will be held in my home town of Koblenz, Germany from August 13th to the 16th, 1999. It was fun to see some of you at the conclave in Charleston. I wish to thank all of you who made this trip a journey of a lifetime (hope so!).

Some plans for the Koblenz Conclave 1999 were changed as follows:
1. There will be no pre-convention sightseeing tour organized by the host. Instead there will be the Official MBS Tour organized by Father Joseph Curran, which leads from Frankfurt to Heidelberg, Freiburg, Neuschwanstein, Munich and finally to Koblenz. Contact Fr. Curran for more information.

2. The Conclave events (hopefully) are:
FRIDAY - Registration, welcome, public opening of the MBS European Travelling Exhibition.
SATURDAY - Day trip to Mainz to visit the Gutenberg Museum, banquet and "The Rhine in Flames."
SUNDAY - Book Fair and Auction
MONDAY - Business meeting and optional tour to Marksburg.
Birthplace of Beethoven's mother

3. After the Conclave, three day trips:
TUESDAY - Historical and architectural tour of Koblenz and wine tasting.
WEDNESDAY - Trip to Trier.
THURSDAY - Boat trip to the Loreley and the Doll House Museum in St. Goar.
The Auction will be prepared by Bob Massmann. Keepsakes (about 120 each) from US members should be sent to Maryline Poole Adams. Please contribute! Keepsakes from around the rest of the world should be sent to me.
Thanks again to all who made the last Conclave a remarkable one. Be sure to come to Koblenz next year to enjoy that one too! If you have any questions, email me at quaddel@uni-koblenz.de
